COURSING,
The Council of the National Coursing Association met last evening, wlien Mr B, S. Irwin presided over a full attendance of deleg-ales. Mr Richard Coombes (Sydney) wrote stating- that no further effort had been made regarding the affiliation of Victoria and South Australia with the union, for the reason that no conference had been held during the year between those in and out of the union, but expressed the hope that in the course of time the manifest benefits to be derived from linking up with tho union will _ become so apparent that those standing outside the fold will voluntarily enter it. Reports from the coursing clubs throughout the dominion concerning the control of their respective fixtures during . the past season were received and considered moat satisfactory. Tho Secretary of tho Australasian Coursing Union wrote stating that the 1923 Australasian Waterloo Cup wa_s allotted to the Queensland Coursing Association. The writer added that the executive officers were continuing their efforts in connection with the amelioration of the quarantine laws, and that they had already assisted coursers travelling to and from New Zealand and the other Slates in the Customs and Stock Departments. In connection with the control of the 1923 New Zealand Waterloo, it was decided to invite applications from the clubs; applications returnable by January 24, 1923. Owing to his removal to Wellington, L. S. Gibson tendered his resignation as treasurer.—Received with regret, and Mr A. W. Brown was appointed in his stead. At the conclusion of the meeting the Chairman, on behalf of the council, expresed his regret at losing Mr Gibson’s services,' and, as an appreciation for Iris past services, presented Mr Gibson with a case of Lowe pipes.
