INQUEST
Mr 11. W. Bundle, S.M., coroner, conducted_ an inouest yesterday at Outram regarding the death of Elizabeth Brensscll, who was found drowned in the Taieri River on Saturday afternoon. Constable Southgate represented the police. The husband, William Charles Brenssell. deposed that the deceased took one of her children to hospital in a motor car on Friday night, and on her return home appeared to he very depressed. She was missed on Saturday morning, and- a letter left by her aroused fears for her safety. Edith Wells also gave evidence, and Constable Southgate said he discovered the body in the afternoon -in 4ft of water. A verdict was returned that 'the deceased committed suicide by drowning herself in the Taieri River at Outram on October 14 while in a state -of excessive mental depression.
