HARRIERS.

The St. Hilda Harriers held its 220 yards championship, bioad jump, hop. step, and jump, and one mile handicap events at Forbury Park. In the 220 yards championship eight competitors faced the starter. J. Nelson gained a flying start and kept tho lead for about 200 yards, when be was overtaken by A. Macdonald and S, Hitchcox. Results —A. Macdonald 1, S. Hitchcox 2, E l . Newell 3. Broad Jump; J. Nelson (2ft 9in), 17ft IJin, 1; E. Newell (Ift Gin), 16ft -tin, 2; S. Gibbs (3ft Gin), IGIt, 3. Hop, Step, and Jump: J. Henderson (scr), 35ft 4in, 1; E. Newell (lit 9in), 33ft Sin, 2; S. Gibbs (3ft 9in), 33ft, 3. There were seven and eight entries respectively in these events. In the one mile handicap seven competitors faced the starter, Mr J. Henderson. C. Stubley, from 125yds, made the pace and kept his load for about two-thirds of a mile, when he was overtaken by S. Hitchcox (scr) followed by C. Wills (20yds), Results: S. Hitchcox (scr) 1, C. Wills (20yds) 2, S. Gibbs (95yds) 3. Time, smin 23sec. Tho judges were Messrs S. Thomas and A. Marshall.

Tho Pacific Club brought its season to a close, when the second series of sprint and field events was contested at Forbury Park in ideal weather Tlie 100 yards was the first event, and was well contested. Mr Rudkin effected a_ good start. M'Lcan, who has been a consistent performer this season, had another win oft 3Jyds, beating M'Lachlan by about 2ft. Results: C. H. M'Lean (3Jyds) 1, A. M'Lachlan (lyd) 2, A. Grey (11yds) 3. Time, _ll 2-osoc. The 880 yards race was an exciting event, A. Grey setting a great puce nt tho start. He led 1 for half the distance, hut could not last, and had to give way to C. 11. M'Lcan. who won from Austin by about'4yds, Gibson just lasting long enough to beat M'Lachlan for third place. Results; C. H, M'Lcan (20yds) 1, G. Austin (35yds) 2, S. D. Gibson (30yds) 3, A. M'Lachlan (scr) 4. Time, 2min IGsec. The sprints aggregate goes to C. H. M'Lean, 12 points (four firsts), 1; A. M'Lachlan. 5 points (two seconds and one third), 2; K. R. Morrison, three points, 3; G. Austin, two points, 4. The field events consisted of broad jump, javelin, and shot putt. In the broad jump, difficulty was experienced by most of the contestants in striking the hoard. Results: A. M'Lachlan (Ift), 18ft lin, 1; C. H. M'Lean (2ft), 17ft SJin, 2; G. Austin (scr), 17ft 3in, 3. The javelin is a new event to most of the members, and as many had never handled the implement previously records were out of tho question. Results: G. M'Lachlan (one first, one second and ono third), G points, 2; A. Grey (ono first and three thirds), 54 points, 3. Mr W. Rudkin acted as starter. Tho Dunedin Anglican Hamers held its second; sports meeting at ForLury Park, when there was a very poor attendance of club members. Results ; —229 yards—H. Onnrod (20vus) 1, 3. G. Forbes (10yds) 2, B. it. M'kenian (20yds) 3. This proved a very well-fought-oul race, and the eight starters finished within inches of each other, Onnrod managed to keep his lead. Time, s —J.
