SIXTY YEARS AGO FROM THE Otago Daily Times. " Inveniam viam aut faciam" MONDAY, JULY 21, 1862.
We are informed that a company is about to be established for the purpose of deep sea fishing on, and in proximity to, some of the banks known to exist outside the Heads, and which abound with fish of the most esteemed kind. There is little doubt that, economically worked and under experienced management, the speculation will turn out a most successful one. . . • Dunedin at present boasts of two breweries. In a short time there wul bo numbers three and four. 'The ale brewed at the two establishments is of excellent quality and flavour. Light, sound, and wholesome, it only requires to. be better known to be generally appreciated by a malt-and-hop consuming public. The price charged to hotelkeepers and other largo consumers is about two shillings per gallon. We arc informed by our Tokornainro correspondent that the reported discovery of quicksilver in that district is, in mining language, a regular “duffer.”
