MR. SMITH-WIGGLESWORTH’S MEETINGS.
j TO THB TJDITOB. Sie, —The letter of “Canny” in this morning’s. Daily Times should, 1 think, JraVe a ..ripply. The information he gives has been given many a time and oft. and his;’ question—“ls it possible that all the cures ‘'effected by these agencies” (those ■ which he mentions in his letter) “are of Gda?” is very often suggested if not pla^nlyr.'propounded. I have read ponde tons' theological tomes, presenting the laws which , “Canny” mentions and discussing them with skill and learning, with a ■view, apparently, to find an answer to “Canny’s” question, and the result of the leatned inquiry is (again apparently), the discovery of an answer which to simple miilds, like mine, seems to lie upon the surface. The learned authors seem to ag?ee in desiring their readers to believe that the answer is “No.” In this_ answer I most heartily concur, and only wish that thajt answer should be sounded out more strenuously and emphatically. The healings referred to are “Faith healings,” that is. thejy are the operation of the natural mind upon-the natural body. And in the case of each and every one of the healings mentioned in “Canny’s” category, and others, the presence and power and promise of ■; God are unrecognised. >;■ ijow mark the difference. In the work V of »Mp-*•Wigglesworth and many others whom the Lord is now wonderfully using in- .!■■■ various parts of the world, there are—S first, the definite promise o£ God, this i promise being found in various forms in fo His ‘ Wprd; second, the confident belief that God is as good as His Word, that, He has. power to do as He has said He - . will, that He is faithful to His Word, and to‘ those who trust Him. and that He is &.■ present, and will do as He has said; and, V third, .there is the obedient heart, willing r; to <)o what the Tyord requires. These are the important, factors, the chief being God’s" Promise.—l am. etc.. ' Jxo. A. D. Adams. * ■ June' 24.
