TRADE WITH AUSTRALIA
RECIPROCAL ARRANGEMENTS. HON. DOWNIB STEWART’S MISSION. (Pm United Pbess Association.) AUCKLAND, June 26. Sir Mark Sheldon, late Australian Trade Commissioner in the United States, who is a through passenger by the Niagara, stated he thought the Federal Parliament would adopt the reciprocal arrangements tentatively entered into by the Hon. W. Downie Stewart, and the Australian Minister of Customs. He understood the matter was exhaustively dealt with in April, and it would probably be one of the first things to come before the Federal Parliament at its meeting this week. The feeling in Australia was that there should be reciprocity l with New Zealand as far as possible. He did not think there was any question about it. There was a difficulty in deciding the method and the various items, but it was not insuperable. He believed the Ministers had actually reached an agreement.
