MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, June 26. (Received June 26, at 11.40 p.in.) The primary producers have decided to make a strong stand against the Australian Workers’ Union and to fight the union with its own. weapons of combination and solidarity. The producers are to be organised into branches in such a way that a threat by combined Labour against one section or group may be immediately neutralised by co-operation on the part of the other members. Practically all the_ primary producers are interested in the move, which, when finalised, will comprise an elaborate amalgamation of interests to combat militant unionism and also to improve the position of the producers in such matters as the distribution and the marketing of produce. So far the Largs Bay has been unable to secure an efficient crew. The members of the 'Seamen’s Union are obeying the officials’ order not to sign on. MELBOURNE, June 26. (Received June 26, at 11.40 p.m.) The All-Australian Union Congress has commenced to consider the decision of the Brisbane Conference, which adopted as its objective the socialisation of industry. Mr Brennan, a. member of the House of Representatives, who was appointed last December to the committee to investigate the proposed agreement between the commonwealth and the Amalgamated Wireless (Ltd.) for a wireless service between Great Britain and Australia, has submitted his minoritv report. He states that he opposes the agreement, as there is no authority to justify the belief that such a service could be maintained as an effective instrument of commercial communication. He recommends that the commonwealth should control its own wireless department pending the result of the trials now being prosecuted in the various parts of the world. Mr Brennan_ adds: “Tie proposal is a gamble in which the commonwealth stands to lose heavily, or in the alternative will shaxe in remote and doubtful gains with private financiers.”
