KNOX CHURCH SPIRITUAL MISSION
There was a good attendance at the service last night, when, after devotions, conducted by Rev. Tullocb Yuille. an address was given by Rev. A. W, Kinmont on “The Cost, of the Christian Life.” He spoke of how free the benefits of the Christian religion are to men and yet into what costs they lead men. True religion may claim from men all they have, but it is just, this appeal to the heroic in men that has been the secret of its success. After the Boxer rebellion there were no mission stations had so many volunteers an those situated in dangerous provinces. ’ Yet the secret of the appeal to .the heroic lies in the fact that it is the appeal of Eternal Love. The siibiect to-night is “The Joy of the Christian Life.”
Lily; “I wonder -why the poet asked hie love to drink to him only with her eyes?” Charlie: “I suppose he saw them brimming over.” • ■ ■ Golf Instructor; “Oh, swing 'the club man! Swing it! Don’t chop at the ball as if you were a butcher!” Beginner: “Confound it, that’s jnst what I am!’’
