The monthly meeting of the committee of the Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Society was attended by Messrs Edgar C. Hazlett (president, in the chair), J. Birtles, W. Turnbull, G. Black, R. a. S. Cantrell, J. Macandrew, D. Andrew, J. W. Blair, J. Gow, J. Smtih, D, Murray, H. C. Campbell, A. Johnson, H. M. Driver. Apologies were received from Messrs E. F. Duthie. W. Moynihan James Begg, R. A. Ewing, W. 0. M’Kellar. H. Turner. G. it. Ritchie, T. J. Gawh, J. Nimmo. and T. Scott. On the motion of Mr G. Black, seconded by Mr H. C. Campbell, the Finance Committee’s report was adopted, and accounts amounting to £248 17s 8d were approved and passed for payment. The audited balance sheet was adopted, which, together with the report, it was decided to have printed and submitted to members. The Grounds Committee reported on the negotiations which had taken place in connection with the lease of the grounds to the Otago Rugby Football Union.—Approved. The Prime Minister wrote thanking the committee for invitation to be present at the annual meeting and social 'to be held on the evening of Tuesday, May 30. Messrs Thomson and Co. wrote suggesting an alteration in the classes at the annual horse show. After consideration the matter was referred to the Horse Committee to report, after the annual meeting of the society. Mr J. Birtles wrote offering a fat bullock for the guessing competition at the Winter Show, which was accepted with thanks. In connection with the ram and ewe fair, Mr Arthur Johnson offered suggestions towards facilitating the handling of stock sent forward for sale. After consideraiton the matter was referred to the Sheep Committee to confer with the Stock Agents’ Association. . Ihe secretary of the Otago Producers’ Cool Storage Company wrote offering to take charge of the butter and cheese for the Winter Show.—Resolved that a letter of thanks be forwarded to the company for its generous assistance. Marshals and class stewards for the forthcoming Winter Show were duly nominated.
