SUMMER SCHOOL
“FLITTING” ON SATURDAY. Owing to tlie heavy rains it was decided early on Saturday morning to transfer the 21 girls from their quarters at Grant’s Braes to Larnach’s Cattle, on the Peninsula, This was one of the places under consideration for the whole enoampment in the first instance, but the distance fropa, a railway station was against it. However, difficulties of access which would be objectionable for a couple of months will make comparatively little difference for a week or 10 days. Mr C. Speight, who had already done much for the summer school, generously came forward again, and during the course of Saturday afternoon and evening he got Dr Irwin and her staff, and the 21 little girls, with beds, baggage, fuel, and provisions removed in two large motor lorries to The Camp. The rain held off fust long enough for a dry journey, and the children, were soon asleep in their new quarters. They were greatly delighted on waking up to a fine morning yesterday, and one and all regarded the “flitting” in the light of a successful picnic. The mothers will no doubt be anxious to see the children in their new surroundings, and arrangements will bo made for conveying them to the “camp ’ about the middle of the week. Notice as to this will be sent to the parents.
