NEW PRISON FARM.
A BENEFICIAL WORK. (Pen United Fuss Association.) WELLINGTON. March 25. The Prisons Department has acquired • few thousand acres on the shores of Lake Taupo for the purpose cf establishing a new. prison farm, a few miles from the township of Tokaanu. The land is chiefly pumice country, but includes a considerable area of bush, and is flat to undulating. The Hon. E. P. Lee stated that by meane of prison labour the laud would be prepared for settlement purposes. The intention of the Prisons Department is to develop it block by block, moving temporary, huts and buildings forward as development proceeds. Syme of the hnta are already upland when the camp has been fully established more prisoners will be drafted them and work will go on steadily.
