YOUNG WOMAN’S DEATH.

THE POLICE INVESTIGATING. . (Pi* United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 25. An inquest has been opened regarding the death at the hospital of a young woman named Eva Simes, the circumstances of whose admission to the institution have been the subject of police investigation. Dr Harris, house surgeon at the Wellington Hospital, said that the deceased was admitted on March 23, when she was in a state of profound toxaemia. Her bodily condition snowed signs of neglect, and she had evidently been delivered of a premature child. She refused to give any details about herself, and died on Friday. Witness had hold a post mortem examination, and in his opinion the cause of death was general peritonitis. It was possible that the injuries could have \ been selfinflicted. Is was stated that the woman same from Christchurch. The inquest was adjourned.
