KENSINGTON STREET ACCIDENT.

THOMAS DAY ARRESTED. CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER. At about 6 o’clock on Thursday, March 16, a little boy named Harold James Moody was killed in the street near the Kensington Hotel by being knocked down by a horse and trap. A verdict to that effect was returned at the inquest held last Monday. On Saturday morning the driver of the trap, Thomas Day, was arrested on a charge of manslaughter and brought before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M.. in the City Police Court. Mr A. C. Hanlon appeared for the accused. Sub-inspector Eccles. for the police, explained that, the man had been arrested only that morning. He asked that Day be remanded 'till next Saturday, when a further remand could be applied for till the following Monday. This was granted. On the application “of Mr Hanlon bail was granted and fixed at—accused himself in £2OO and one surety of £2OO or two of £IOO each.
