SUPPLEMENTARY TREATY.
SHARP DEBATE PROMISED. WASHINGTON, March 25. (Received March 20, at 11.5 p.m.) H now appears likely that several days will be spent over a long discussion on the supplementary treaty excluding the Japanese mainland from the provisions of the Pacific; Treaty. Senator Lodge -bad Imped for ratification within a few hours, but Senator Hitchcock caused a new sensation by declaring that the adoption of the Pacific Treaty would bo illegal since the supplementary treaty was like the codicil of a will, and the ratification of one without the other would be void. The irreooncilables promise a sharp debate.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
