METHODIST CENTRAL MISSION
The Octagon Hall Social Room was crowded with Central Mission workers last evening to listen to a report of the recent conference by the Rev. 0. Eaton, tv ho gave a descriptive and interesting account of the Centenary Conference, and of his visit to Whangaroa, and dealt humorously with some fishing expeditions he had enjoyed. Mr Eaton paid a graceful tribute to the Rev. C. H. Laws, B.A. (New Zealand president) for his eloquent, heart-searching, and deeply spiritual addresses, and stated that on every occasion lie worthily represented our Church with grace and dignity. Conference bad set aside the Rev. Mr Laws to visit the centres of the dominion during this year to meet the officials and workers with a view to strengthening the spiritual work of Methodist churches. The circuit steward (Mr Cameron) expressed the pleasure of the mission workers at the re-appointment of Rev. Eaton to the mission for another year, a sentiment that was heartily applauded. He also expressed the appreciation of the mission to the Rev. C. Dallaslou for his very acceptable ministry during Mr Eaton's absence. Mr R. Moffatt was accorded a hearty welcome lifter his recent illness, and sympathy was expressed with the relatives of the late Mr John Sanders and Mr Barkman, who recently passed away, both these gentlemen were prominent workers in the mission for many years. Refreshments were served by the ladies, and altogether a very happy and pleasant evening was spent.
