LAW DEBATING SOCIETY
The annual business meeting of the Dunedin Law Debating Society was heir] in the lecture room, Supreme Court buildings, on Monday evening. Mr H. J. S. Grater, occupied the chair, and the attendance promised a successful year, there being approximately 30 students present. I'he Chairman expressed the hope that the debates to be held during the forthcoming year would be marked by a full attendance of law students, and he particularly urged regular attendance on the part of the younger members. He also expressed satisfaction at the fact that at the Otago University inter-faculty debate in 1921 the shield had been won again by their faculty, their representatives having been Messrs G. T. Bayleo and C. B. Barrowclough. The balance sheet showed the society to have in hand a satisfactory credit balance. The following office-bearers were elected for the ensuing year:—President. Mr Justice Sim; vice-presidents—the law lecturers of the University—viz., Messrs J. B. Callan, jun., A. C. Stephens, F. B. Adams H. S. Adams, H. L. Cook, A. G. Neill, W. G. Hay, j. Lang, end S. E. Barrowclough; committee —Messrs G. T. Bayleo (chairman), H. J. S. Grater, J. B. Deaker, K. G. Boy, H. K. Emanuel, and R. S. Sinclair: hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr G. W. Ross. It was decided that the debates he held on every alternate Monday instead of weekly as was the case lost year. At the close of the meeting a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the retiring officers.
