ST. PATRICK’S DAY PROCESSION. CITY COUNCIL IGNORED. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. MELBOURNE, March 20. Despite the City Council’s resolution prohibiting a procession on St. Patrick’s Day, the committee conducted an immense procession through the city streets. The police took the names of several" of the leaders, with a view to possible prosecutions. > CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE CONGRESS. HOBART, March 20. (Received March 2, at 10.15 p.m). The 18th Congress of the Associated Chambers of Commerce of Australia has opened. The presidential address emphasised that the time has come when commercial men must no longer cany individualism to the point of treating public affairs with indifference. The president deplored the gospel of sectional distrust and hatred which is the gospel of anarchy. What was wanted in Australia before they could return to normal conditions was the readjustment of all contributing factors so that the selling costs might be reduced.
