BUBONIC PLAGUE
POSITION IN SYDNEY. HEALTH DEPARTMENT’S WARNING.^ Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, January 31. The plague cases came from Dusiness premises in Liverpool street. The Directs of Public Health is urging increased need for preventive activity. He says that the plague is now across George street, in the heart of the city,' and unless the citizens generally do their duty there will be an outbreak of quite serious dimensions. CAMPAIGN AGAINST RATS. INCREASED ACTIVITY NECESSARY. DR ARMSTRONG’S PREDICTION. .SYDNEY, January 31. (Received Jan. 31, at 10.30 p.m.) Dr Armstrong, President of the Board of Trade, in a warning to citizens respecting the increased necessity for rat destruction, says that experience has shown that fleas are more numerous in Sydney in March and April, and it is a safe presumption that the number of rat fleas will also increase. He predicts an outbreak of plague during March and April.
