LABOUR PARTY’S COMPLAINT. WOULD-BE SETTLERS DISHEARTENED. Pieas Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, January 30. Replying to a deputation from the Constitutional Labour Party, which declared that many would-be settlers in the dominions had lost heart owing to the way in wliicb they were received on arrival. Colonel L. C. M. S. Amery intimated that the Overseas Settlement Committee substantially agreed with the statements made. Measures were being gradually adopted which should tend to improvement. It was impossible to establish a central emigration committee, as the control of the arrangements for the reception of emigrants must be left in the hands of the dominion Governments.—Renter.
