OTAGO ANNUAL REGATTA. The Otago annual regatt%, which will bo held at Port Chalmers on Tuesday, February. 7, promises to bo very successful. The entry for tho various events promises to be a record one. An excellent entry has been received for all the rowing events, and some close finishes should be witnessed. Tho motor boat races have else attracted large entries. No donlpt the chief attraction in connection with the regatta will he the two 14-footor races. These races should provide groat finishes. Arrangements are also being made for holding a number of swimming and diving events, and dinghy races, wliich will bo. held in the steamers’ boain. The first race will start at ,10 a.m. and the last race at 4.30 p.m. His Excellency the Gov-ernor-General has entered the Iron Duke for the 14-footer races, and has advised that ho hopes to bo able to be present - at the regatta. The Railway Department is making special train arrangements, and everything points to the regatta being a. most successful and interesting one. KARITANE REGATTA COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Karitano Regatta Committee was held! in the schoolroom at Karitane on January 20. The president (ilr W. Taine) presided, and congratulated the committee on the result of the regatta, which was a great success in all respects. It was unanimously agreed to' hold another regatta during the next Christmas holidays.
