APPOINTMENT OF LAW EXAMINERS. ARTS AND COMMERCE FACULTY. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, January 27. Tho University Senate continued its meeting to-day. On the recommendation of the Finance,’ Law, and Music Committees, tho following examiners wore appointed Law, LL.M. contracts and torts, Mr H. D. Bowee, London; law of , real property, Mir C. G. White. LL.B.; jurisprudence and constitutional history, Mr W. F. Murison, LLB.; law professional ajid contracts, the Hon. J. MacGregor, Dunedin; property 11, Mr J. C. Stephens, Dunedin; property I, Mr'W. A. Izard, Christchurch; torts, Mr F. J. Rolleetpn, Timaru; criminal law, Mr O. T. J. Cook, LL.B.; grants, Mr Hay, LL.M., Tho Arts and Commeroo ' Committee recommended that the request of the BankOfficers Guild to exempt candidates from examination in tho subject of bookkeeping on the ground of having passed an equivalent examination, bo granted; that the New Zealand Society of Accountants bo informed that the university yill continue ita practice of allowing a pass in three subjects in the accountants’ preliminary _ examination; that tho suggestion of the society to summon a conference to consider tho commerce courses of the university be referred to tho Wellington Rcooss Committee to report to the April meeting of the Senate on tho possibility of arranging such a conference ; that tho Senate do not establish a diploma in commerce; that tho subject of anthropology ho placed at *o end -of the list of subject© of the pass grade in the B. Statute, and that the. restriction at present applicable to subjects 15-19, apply to it; that as the report of th© examiners on tbo thesis submitted by Professor G. E. Thompson for tho degree of litt. D, waa highly favourable, the degree bo awarded to the candidate accordingly, provided all tho other conditions are satisfied.—The recommendations wore adopted. Tho Hoben Prize for 1921 waa awarded to Mr R. F. Fortune, of Victoria College. The subject for 1922 as “Faulty Pronunciation among pupils of tho primary schools, its character, prevalence, and remedial treatment,” and for 1923 “An inquiry into tho practical educational effects of the courses cf manual training in tho primary schools.”
