Unity Lodge’s first meeting for the new year, held on Monday last and provided over by N.G. Bro. J. Leggett, was well attended. Chief Patriarch Bro. J. MTvor, with officers and members of Phoenix Encampment, visited officially. Fraternal greetings were conveyed by Bro. D. Swinton and the D.D.G.M. from northern lodges. Secretary Bro. W. Homan presented the quarterly half-yearly and annual returns, showing the lodge to be financially sound. The installation of. officers was proceeded With by D.D.G.M. Bro, J. Skinner, assisted by D.D.G. Warden Bro. D. Swinton, D.D.G. Chaplain Bro. F. W. Joseph, D.D.G. Marshall Bro. H, H. Johnson, D.D.G. Guard Bro. F. Fox. who installed the following officers: —l.P.G., Bro. J. Leggett; N.G., Bro. Robinson; Y.G.. Bro.. Payne; Secretary, Bro. Homan; Treasurer, Bro. Bolton; Worden, Bro. Hall; Conductor, Bra Townsend; Chaplain, Bro. Campbell; R.S.N.G., Bro. MTvor; L.S.N.G., Bro. Nicholls; 8.5.V.G., Bro. Shore, jun.; L.S.N.G., Bro. Lennon; R.S.S., Bro. Haeelmore; LB.S., Bro. H. Pizey; 1.G., Bro. Fifield; 0.G., Bro. Wlneficld. In respond ing to the toast of the “ Installing Officers,” the D.D.G.M. and other officers wished the N.G. and his officers every success in the now terms. The lodge decided to honour P.G. W. Winefield by inserting his photograph in the official district handbook, and it ■was also decided to present two worthy brothers with a certificate and jewel respectively. After business had concluded, supper was handed round, and the toast to the, visitors was acknowledged by P.G, Bro. Duncan (Pioneer), N.G. Bro. Fox (Leith), V. B. Lorixner (Linden), P.G. Bro. Seaton (Hereweka), and Bro. J. MTvor (Phoenix Encampment). The half-yearly installation of officers constituted the principal business at Pioneer Lodge’s first meeting of the new year. After formal business had been finished, and mention made of the approaching diamond jubilee of the lodge, and a suitable function to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of the mother lodge of the jurisdiction of New Zealand arranged to be held ort august 15, the installing officers, D.D.G.M. Bro. J. Skinner, D.D.G. Warden Bro. D. Swinton, D.D.G. Chaplain Bro. W. Smith. D.D.G. Marshal Bro. H. H. Johnston, and D.D.G. Guard. Bro. J. Shore, were received with the customary honour by N.G. Bro. Currie and members, and proceeded to instal the following officers: —I.P.G , Bro. G. Currie; N.G., Bro. S B. Sneddon; V.G., Bro. W. S. Sneddon; Secretary, Bro. F. H. M‘Arthur; Treasurer, Bro. George Latimer; Conductor, Bro. J. Duncan; Warden, Bro. W. Kilpatrick; R.S.S.. Bro. B. O. Griffiths; LG.. Bro. J. G. Grant; L.S.N.G., Bro. G. C. Morris; R.S.V.G., Bro. J. C. Tyson; L.S.V.G., Bro. T. D. Valentine; Chaplain, Bro. R. MfiKinlay. At the conclusion of the ceremany the D.D.G.M. presented, on behalf of the lodge, a P.G.’s jewel to Bro. J. G. Grant in recognition of his services to Pioneer No. 1. After the lodge had closed,, all were entertained at supper, when the usual toast was acknowledged bv the installing officers, and N.G. Bro. Robinson (Unity), N.G. Bro. Fox (Leith), P.G. Bro. Seaton (Hereweka), and Bro. D. Smith (Kennington).
