OTAGO YACHT AND MOTOR BOAT ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the Otago Yacht and Motor Boat Association was held on Wednesday night. Mr A. C. Hanlon (commodore) occupied the chair, and there was a fair attendance of members. Mr Walter Robertson, secretary of the Stewart Island Yacht Chib, which is the representative club of Southland, haa nominated the Murihiku for the Sanders Cup races, and notified that he would be in Dunedin for the contests,

The programme for the Otago regatta, to be held on February 7 at Port Chalmers, as submitted, and was approved, subject to minor alterations. It was decided that the sailing race for 14-footers for the Otago championship, to be sailed at this regatta, must be _ conducted under the auspices and jurisdiction of the Ota go Yacht and Motor Boat Association, and bo governed by the rules and regulations relating to the Jellicoe class. The following were appointed to control the race: — Messrs C. Smith, A. Grant, and E. Davys. The Otago Regatta Committee further requested that no Sanders test races should be sailed on February 7, or, failing this, that one of the test races be sailed at the regatta.—lt was resolved to reply that the association would use its best endeavours to assist, but that the matter rested entirely with the delegates, who would meet and confer prior to Sandora Cup races. _ A letter was received from the Otago Yacht and Motor Boat Club asking priority in the * matter of sailing an Otago 14ft championship.—lt was decided to reply that the association did not approve of clubs assuming the right to sail races for the championship of Otago. The association suggested that if the clubs wanted to hold championships they should make these relative to their own particular part of the harbour, thus Upper Harbour Championship, Lower Harbour _ Championship. The association also decided to approve of only one championship m each class. The Otago Yacht Club forwarded to the association the offers of shod accommodation from several of the club members viz., Messrs A. E. Jenkins. H. E. Robinson, Munro, Barnett, and G. Moore. The club also offered the use of its pavilion. ■ Eight launches were placed at the disposal of the association for use dunng the contests, these being Mr A, E. Jenkins’s Isobel, Mr O. W. Sundstrum. s Norana, Mr A. Begg’s Laura. Mr J. MTherson’s Eureka, Mr J. T. Paul s Mamari, Mr H. E. Robinson’s Hazel, Mr J. Ledgerwood’s Palmer, and Mr E. Andrews’s Maitai. One of these launches will bo at the service of each boat competing in the cup wherever wanted.
