RIFLE SHOOTING
KAITANGATA DEFENCE ■ CLUB. The Kaitangafca Defence Rifle Club held a match on Saturday for prizes presented by.Mr Best (Dunedin). The ranges and 600 yards, with seven shots each. The limit was fixed at 94. The conditions were favourable, and some good scores were put on. Rifleman W. D. Paterson gaining the possible at 500 yards. The scores were as follows, the first four securing prizes:—

BRUCE DEFENCE CLUB On Saturdav the Bruce Defence Rifle Club commenced the first.' of three competitions (two best to count) for prizes presented by the president (Mr A. E. Stewart). The weather conditions w.ere ideal for ehootingj but, owing; to the majority of competitors being now members, the scores registered were not of a high standard with the exception of that of Rifleman M. E. Paul (scratch), who .topped the list with the creditable score of 65 out of a possible of 70 points. Rifleman H. Peattie also got into the sixties. Scores:—
