LANDLORD AND TENANT.
TO THE EDITOR. Sib,—Will you kindly tell mo what are tho rights of a landlord? I am under tho belief if I pay for a houee and pay taxes, rates, insurance, and also hold a title for this property, I dm the owner of it. I have been annoyed by a tenant who refuses to give me possession because he says that, while he pays'the rent, he is the owner. There are many reasons why a landlord may require his property, and these are some of the reasons that I wish to claim my house, among them being that, while I do not require it for myself, it may he occupied by members of my family. Can I claim possession on these grounds? I am ordered off my premises if I ask the tenant if he has yet got another house, not only by him, but by strangers who are often about his house. Kindly give me your opinion on this matter.— I am, etc., J. Downie. South Dunedin, December 6. [The opinion of a solicitor on the subject would be preferable to a lay opinion.—Ed. O.D.T.] .
