JOHN M’GLASHAN COLLEGE

OLD COLLEGIANS’ ASSOCIATION FORMED. Although the John M’Glashan College has been only four years in existence and has not as yet a large roll of past students, over 20 of these met at the college oh Friday evening last for the purpose of inaugurating an Old Collegians’ Association. A number of apologies were received from those unable to be present. The proceedings were most enthusiastic. They commenced "with a dinner, which was heartily enjoyed, and at which three to,oats—- “ The King,” “ The College,” and “ The Old Collegians’’—were honoured. An enjoyable social evening was then spent in the principal’s residence, where a brief business meeting was also held, at which it was resolved to establish the association. A provisional executive was appointed, consisting of Messrs R. Don (chairman), M. H. Wilkinson (hon. secretary and treasurer), C. C. Robinson, F. Butterfield, and E. B. Stewart, with the principal of the college (ex officio). It was decided to fix the annual meeting for the night of the college athletic sports meeting, which is held in the first term of each year. An effort is to be made to provide a challenge cup for competition among the old collegians at the sports. Considerable discussion took place with regard to a design for an Old Collegians’ badge, and it was eventually decided to leave this matter to the committee to arrange. A subscription was fixed to cover the cost of the annual dinner and of supplying copies of the College Magazine to all members of the association, which is to be open to all past students and past and present members of the teaching staff. A vote of thanks was passed to the matron of the college for the complete and attractive arrangements made bv her for the dinner _ and supper. Items of harmony and recitations were contributed by Messrs T. S. Holme, N. R. Mnonlister, R. Harris, R. Don, and A. G. Butchers, and were much appreciated. The proceedings terminated with the hearty singing of “ Auld Lang Syne” and the hakns of those present.
