Cable. ARMIES OF OCCUPATION. AMERICAN FORCES REDUCED. PARIS, October 23. (Received Oct. 24, at 5.5 p.m.) The American authorities have notified the Allies of their approaching reduction of the forces in the occupied area by 50 per cent. The cost of French, Belgian, British, and American occupational forces now totals 375,000,000 gold mark. Efforts are being made to reduce the cost to Germanv to 240,000,000. —A. and N.Z. Cable. NEW YORK, October 24. (Received Oct. 24, at 5.5 p.m.) The New York Times Washington correspondent says that it has been announced that the United States will reduce its forces in Germany to 5600, bringing home 8000 by March next.—A. and N.Z. (Received Oct. 24, at 9.15 p.m.) Official: The Germans have destroyed under the Treaty 32,800 cannon, 11,000 minenwerfer, and 84,000 machine guns.
