NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Application is intended to be made to the General Assembly of New Zealand at the forthcoming Session thereof for Leave to Introduce, on behalf of The Taieri River Trust, a Bill intituled An Act to Amend ‘‘The Taieri River Improvement Act, 1920.” The object which such Bill is intended to effect is; (a) Empowering the’ Trust to Levy and Collect the same Special Rates as were made as security for loans raised by the late Otokia, West Taiori, Berwick, and Maungatua Drainage Boards and Henley River Board. r (b) Providing that a bare majority of votes shall suffice to carry a poll to raise loans. (c) Empowering the Trust to raise loans to repair extraordinary damage done by floods, etc., without taking a poll of ratepayers, and to make a uniform special rate on an acreage basis ae security for loans so raised; and pending the raising of such loans to borrow money by way of overdraft. (d) Empowering the Trust to make a uniform rate on an acreage basis for maintenance and repair of rivers and ■ lake embankments and to classify the land for such rate; and miscellaneous amendments to section eight of ‘The Taieri River Improvement Act, 1920.’’ AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER' GIVEN that a Copy of the said Bill has been Deposited at the Magistrate’s Court at Outram, and remains there Open for Inspection for a period of THREE WEEKS from the date hereof.
