DRASTIC LEGISLATION DEMANDED,
Press Association—By Telegraph— Copyright. NEW YORK, September 25. (Received Sept. 26, at 11.5 p.m.) Immigrants are flocking into the United States at nearly the pre-war rate of 1,000,000 yearly. It is learned that the American Federation of Labour officials intend bringing pressure on Congress for more drastic immigration laws, on the ground th~,t a continuance of the present influx of aliens will undermine the living standards of the native organised Labour! A hard political battle is anticipated, and many employers are likely to fight the amendments which will curtail the flow of unskilled labour into the United States A. and N.Z. Cable.
