CATHOEIO PROTESTS.
(Bee Uhtted Prb3s Association.) GREYMOUTH, September .24. The following- resolutions were carried inanimously at a mass meeting of West .Coast Catholics at Greymouth last night:— "That this meeting of Catholic clergy and laity in Greymouth and the surrounding districts protest against the proposed amendment of the marriage laws of New Zealand tw being an unjust interference with freedom of conscience and a revival of the Penal laws against the profession of the Catholio faith. That all the laymen present are in perfect agreement with the attitude taken by his Grace Archbishop O'Shea, Actm K Metropolitan, and Dr Brodie, bishop of the diocese, and are prepared to support loyally the Catholio hierarchy and the clergy in, resisting- the proposed unjust Jaws." ■
