TRAIN JOURNEY TO CHRISTCHURCH.

TRAIN OFFICIALS AND STAFF THANKED. (Ps« United Pmssa Association.) CKPJSTOHTJRCH, May .21., The Royal train, which left Invercargill at 10 o'clock last night, reached Christchurch at 9 o'clock this morning. The weather was very cold all tho way. Tho Southern Alps -which were completely snowclad to the lowest foothills, presented a magnificent spectacle, and daylight disclosed a white coat of frost over all tbo South Canterbury plains. At Midclleton, the train was stopped for a few minutes while the Prince held an informal reception, of all tho officials and staff connected with the conduct of his tour. He also addressed a few 'words of thanks to them all for the manner in which everything had been done to secure the comfort of his party during their travels. He said he would never forget the kindness extended to him on all hands in Now Zealand. His Royal Highness concluded by wishing all of them "Kja-ora." A -photograph of the group was then taken with tho Prince in tho midst of tbo train staff. «

Tonight his Royal Highness will entertain the Prime Minister, Sir William Eraser, and tho Mayors of the four cities at dinner aboard tho Renown, which, according to present arrangements, will sail for Melbourne, via Cook Strait, at daylight tomorrow.
