The second of the English films to bo released in New Zsaland since the war is, a fiepworth production, " The Hanging Judge," in five reels, with Chrissie White and Henry Edwards in the lead. This production will be screened at the King's Theatre to-day for the first time. It will bo. rtmembered that these two artists appeared in the leading roles of "Broken Threads," and their work in that picture stamped them as performers of a very high standard. " The Hanging Judge" is a screen adaptation of the book and play by the author Tom Gallon, and was prepared for the screen by Henry Edwards. The cast includes many well-known English performers. Besides the two loading artists, Hamilton Stewart as the Judge is said to give a remarkable performance. Mr Stewart is recognised as one of England's most famous actors, and is not unknown in New Zealand, having visited this country some time ago with J. C. Wiliamson's dramatic oompany, appearing in "Sherlock Holmes" and other productions.' The English Kinematograph, writing of "The Hanging Judge," says: —"Strong, very strong, is this story of the too upright judge, by Tom Gallon. There is no mercy in the hanging judge's heart. Judge Jeffries, the infamous Hanging Judge of the Revolution, is his model. Sir John Veasey, the modern judge, sleeps soundly whatever may be the experience of the man he has condemned." A comedy, a new oartoon, and the latest edition of the Pathe Gazette are included in this new programme.
