flight to mount oook. IN A SNOWSTORM. (Pim UMTIJ) PK*BB Associatioh.) TTMART7, May 21. The intended flight by Captain Dickson and Mr T. D. Burnett from Fairlie to the Hermitage was commenced this morning, but not oompleted. Starting at about 10.30 in bright, calm weather, they struck a nor'-weßt gale overhead, but made the way over the Fox Peak Range- and over Lake Tekapo against the gale. As the Alpa and the valleys were hidden by clouds of diist it was useless to go further. The situation of The Hermitage and the lie of tile valleys could be made out, and Captain Dickson was satisfied that the Mackenzie basin and the hills between it and Fairlie were good flying country. Tho gale which had been driving new fallen Snow like wisps of smoke off the. top of the range before the start, reached Fairlie just before the aviators landed, but a good landing was made an hour after the start, and the machine had to bo well tied down. Captain Dickson proposes leaving for Christchurch with two passengers at daylight in the moraiiig.
