BELGIAN AWARDS FOR DUNEDIN WOMEN.

At the request of the Belgian Government, Mr G. L. Denniston, Consul for that oountrv in Otago, submitted some time ago tho names of ladies in his oonsular district who hud been prominent in working in aid of relief for Belgium during the war. To these ladies it had been decided to award tile bronze medal of Queen Elizabeth as a mark of gratitude from the King and Queen of the Belgians for their services. Mr Denniston had a difficult task in selecting names out of the hundreds of ladies who had given whole-hearted work and devotion during all the years of war, and had to confine himself as closely as possible tothoso who had an official connection with the work. The medals and accompanying diplomas lately camo to liapd. and a few- days, ago Mr Denniston had the pleasure at an informal meeting at the Kia Ora Tea Rooms of presenting 1 these gifts to the ladies entitled to receive them. Their names arc? as follows: —Mrs Barninpham. Miss Jean Burt. Mrs Blackman. Mrs J. B. Ca.!!an. Mrs Cook (St. Leonards), Mrs Cunninghame (Port Chalmers), Miss Denniston, Mrs Aufrere Fenwick, Mrs Lindo Ferguson, MieKGeerin. Mrs C. H. Hayward, Miss Hereus. Mrs James Hutchison. Mrs Jackson, Mrs A. G. Melville, Mrs ?.loriee, Mrs Morrison. Mrs North, Mi's S. M. Park, .Miss Rattrav. Miss Runciman, Miss May Stewart, Mrs H. K. Wilkinson, and Mrs Wotton (on account of the late Miss Wotton).
