The Republicans hope to quickly subdue the Monarchists. It is reported that ex-King Manoel is at sea, and in Portuguese -waters.—A, and N.Z. Cable. (Received Jan. 26, at 5.30 p.m.) Frontier messages state that the Monarchist movement is assuming serious proportions, but Lisbon reports that the Government has mastered the situation and taken steps to crush the movement. The Government fined Oporto twenty thousand pounds sterling, and Braza and Vizeu ten thousand pounds each. Lisbon is quiet. v BOMBARDING OPORTO.

LONDON, January 23. (Received Jan. 26, at 5.30 p.m.) A Madrid wireless message states that Portuguese warships are bombarding Oporto, which the Monarchists control. Els-King Manoel's landing is expected momentarily.—A. and N.Z- Cable.
