SPORTS AT CARISBROOK
Everyone loves a, clean, strenuous athletio contest. The design of the sports gala at Carisbrook Ground has been to provide the public with just such contests by leading exponents of the various sports, and the promise of the programme is that this dosign will be fulfilled. All the sports bodies are co-operating. The Pacific Harriers this week agreed to another postponement of their sprints rather than counter the gala, and others are'doing the same. The meeting of the Otago soccer team which beat Southland with the High School Old Boys' tc-am is keenly looked for, and the men's and ladies' hockey combats, the Rugby match, and the attractive running: events are all of stirring promise. The enjoyment of the prala will be enhanced by the selections by the St. Kildaßand, and school bands will also assist, while a refreshment booth will entertain in another way.
