(Received Sept. 26, at 1.40 a.m.) 01 Mr Watt (Federal Treasurer) delivered his Budget speech in the House of Representatives to-day. He estimated the war expenditure for 1918-19 at £100,044,411, g and the total war expenditure out of loan d and revenue to the end of 1918-19 would n be £284,640.608. The war loans totalled tl £235,138,486. New taxes would include if 30 per cent, increase in the income tax, G 20 per cent, increase in land tax, a half- £ penny postage tax, and additional enter- " tainment, Customs, excise, and bachelor . taxes. 11 T ■ r.
