SALE OF WORK.
MOEKIITOTON PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. A sale of work in aid of church and patriotic funds was opened in the Mornington Presbyterian Church yesterday afternoon by the -j.on. G. M. Thomson, who referred in eulogistic terms to the work accomplished by ■women during the war. When peace came they would have to find another outlet for their energies, and he hoped they would devote themselves to the assistance of young mothers, many of whom were faced with great difficulties through being unabie to get help. Tho building of homes was most important work, and the domestic problem would have to be solved in tho interests of the nation. Tho stalls were well laden with attractively arranged goods of all kinds—flowers, fancy work, produce, cakes, and sweets—and the way in which they were rushed when the sale opened promised well for its success. The church hall was nicely decorated with flags and flowers. The following is a list of stall-holdeis: — "Work Stall—Mesdames Wren, Henderson, Fisher, "Wallace, Hiss Deae. Produce Stall—Mies Bagrie, Mesdames Cameron, Macdonald, Macnab.
Flower Stall—Mrs Hope and Young ■Women's Bible Class.
Sweet Stall—Mies Macfie and Girls' Class. Tea Room—Mesdames Grinling, Frasor, Tolfer, and Miss Deas; Choir, and Bible Class young ladies. Competition and Cake Stall—Mesdames M'Callum, Hobbs, j>. Henderson. The baking competition resulted as follows:—Sponge sandwich—Mrs C. Napier 1. Butter eponge—Miss Gallaway 1, Mrs M'tnnee 2. Oatcakes—Mrs M'Kinnon 1. Girdle scones —Mrs M'Kinnon 1, Miss Bagrie 2. Pikelets—Miss Bagrie 1. Oven scones— Miss Bagrie 1. Short-bread)— Miss Bennett 1, Miss Bagrie 2. Ginger-bread—Msss Bagrie 1. Chocolate cake^—Mrs Cunningham 1. During the evening a fine musical programme was given by Miss Martyn's pupils. The sale will be open again this afternoon and evening.
