FATALITIES.
(Pee United Press Association) Mr Kitto, who had one eye blown dean out and to totally blinded by an esplosioS mV 9, the ho«itd this morn ing. Mr Borthwiok suffered injuries to his face .with pellets of papa, which came like shots from a gun. Both eyes were injured, and at present he i s blind, and may become permanently so . He was not in. jured about the body. Two stories of toe accident are given-one that, in drilling the men struck the main charge, and the other that the charge misfired and they went to investigate. A carried man named George Read, aged 55 years, was found dead outside hia residence at Milburn at 9.20 yesterday morning under circumstances indicating suicide. Deceased evidently placed gelignite under one of his armpits, his side being blown in. No particular reason is assigned for deceased's action, though it ;s stated that he met with an injury to his head some years' ago through'an accident m the quarry at the Dominion Lime Works where he was previously employed. His wife survives, and there are no children An inquest will bo held at Milburn at 10 a.m. to-day.
