ANNUAL MEETING. Captain Proudfoofc presided over tho annual meetir.fr of the Dunedin. Defence Rifle Club, which was held last night. •Ihe report emphasised the increasing difficulty with regard to the steady deterioration of rifle barrels, which it is impossible to replaco at present. During the season matches were fired against th' 3 Kiwi Uub, the Dunedin Club winning one of una championship was again won oy Rifleman Mackie, and the competitions j?i' . ,'^ enla - n (3), President Proudjcot (2), Riflemen Dippio, Moss, and PemA1 r F'fteen membors took part in tho Otago Rifle Association's Easter competition, which was a very enthusiastic and succossful meeting. Since the war started rrrembcrs had joinad the Expeditionary ■forces, of whom Chaplain Ross, Lieutenants Mackay and Montgomery, and Flightlieutenants Hunt and Bannerman had been granted commissions. One member had made th 9 supreme saerifitw, and three had returned The committee recorded with regret the death of Mr C. F. Greenslade, who was a vice-president of the club for many years. The report was adopted Ihe treasurer's statement, which was nrJoptcd, showed a credit balance of £12 2s led. The following officers were elected:—Hon President, Mr A. J. Shaw; hon. Vice-pr-si" r»° i; president, Captain Proucifoot; hon. Mr R IvL Ureenslade; hon. secretary, Mr E. G. Graham; committee—president, treasurer, se-cretary. Messrs Bannerman, Dippie, Gillan. and Mackie. The season will be opened on October 5. It was decided to invite the officer commanding the Boys' High School Cadets to arrange for four cadets to become attaeh-jd to the club as hon. members, cadets to sunplv the-r own ammunition. Votes of thanks were passrd to the presij secretary, and to Messrs Speight and Co. f or granting the use of their rooms
