OTAGO AND SOUTHLAND WOMEN'S PATRIOTIC ASSOCIATION.

The committee hopes that the collection which has been arranged lor to-day in aid of the Maori Soldiers' Gift Fund will be a great success. On Monday many workers will be welcome to assist with the packing of the monthly quota, of dominion gift parcels. As nearly SOJO of these parcels are packed in the Early Settlers' Hall every month much money and many workers are required to keep the work going. Thousands of cards and letters have been received from the front, gTatefully acknowledging the dominion _ gift parcels. The following goods will be used in making up the parcels for this month —Butter, meat, tobacco, condensed milk, sweets, sugar, rabbit, marmalade, and honey. Members of the public will be welcome at the Early Settlers' Hall any afternoon next week to view the packing.. Every donor of 2s 6d is entitled to enclose a message card with name and address in one of these parcels. The following—only one of many acknowledgments received by this mail—shows how the personal messages are appreciated:— " France, July 21. " Hon. Secretary, 0. and S.W.P.A. " Madame, —I received the other day your very useful and acceptable parcel, and all our boys got one also, and were very pleased with same. I regret the card in parcel was put in blank—no donor or message. I trust you will have plenty of' funds coming in to carry on your good andi useful and patriotic work. I can assure you the parcels are very much appreciated."
