The annual meeting of the Cromwell Lawn Tennis Club was presided over by Mr J. Reid. The annual report and balance sheet showed a membership of 19 men and 23 ladies, and that the debit balance had been reduced from £27 6s 3d to £13 2s 4d. The following office-bearers were elected: — . President, Air J. Reid; vice-presidents— Messrs A. Stephens, G. Wishart, D. C. Jolly, and A, F. Foot; secretary and treasurer, Mr E. Stephens; committee—Misses Tidey, Preec, Hotop, Cahill, and Gair, and Messrs Wrightson and Lyon; Match Committee—Messrs Stephens, Wishart, and Reid; Tournaments Committee—Miss Tidey and Messrs .Foot and Reid. The meeting of Linden Lodge, U.A.O-D., on Tuesday last was a not-able one. The occasion was the presentation by the Royal Arch Chapter of the Rose Stewart Shield to Linden Lodge as the winner for this year of the champion teams' competition iii tho initiation ceremony. A.D. Bro. F. J. Garner presided. Grand Treasurer Bro. E. L. Birt (deputed by the Grand President) presented the shield to the winning team, and in doing so congratulated the lodge on the excellent work performed. He said that tho whole competition had been of a very high standard, seven lodges of the district having competed, and that the ritual work of the order was greatly improved by these competitions. P.A. Bro. Jas. Collier (A.D. in the winning team) received the shield on behalf of the lodge, and acknowledged with thanks the congratulations of tho Grand Lodge. Refreshments were served and an hour spent in pleasant harmony, Bros. Stanley, Collier, Swann, Storer, and E. Sunderland contributing items. Bro. W.
