OTAGO AND SOUTHLAND REUNION.

HELD IN WANGANUL One of the most successful reunions held in Wanganui took place on September 7, when representatives of Otago and Southland now residing in Wanganui met for the purpose of forming an Otago and Southland Association, as well as to talk over old times in " the south." Over a hundred were present, and visitors came from all parts of New Zealand. A splendid musical programme v/as tendered. Mr F. W. G. Herdman (chairman) welcomed all at this initial gathering, and tendered his regrets to ail who may have been overlooked. > Mr W. A. Veiteh, M.P., formerly of Dunedin, in proposing a toast to "Our Army and Navy/' expressed the desire that the reunion should be made an annual one. (" Hear, hear."). His remarks were heartily supported by other speakers. During the evening a presentation was made to Mr P. Boyd, who has since gone to camp. < The following toasts were proposed:— " Our Army and Navy," " Our Allies " (Mr A. G. Bignall), "Boys at the Front" (Mr C. C. Hutton), " Our Old Homes in Otago and Southland" (Mr R. J. Jackson), "The Ladies" (Mr C. Brodie). The evening's entertainment was enhanced with items by the following:—Messrs H. C. Low, F. Trownson, 1-1. C. Price, W. Trownson, R. Garling, R. J. Jackson, R. Maihison, Geo. Buckley, J. Cameron, C. Ferry, and several others. A hearty vote of thanks wa4 accorded the conveners (Messrs H. C. Low, F. W. G. Herdman, F. Foley, and H. C: Price) for a very successful evening.
