WELLINGTON TRADES UNIONS. (Peu United Press Association.) WELLINGTON", September 19. Tho local trades unions last night held a conference on the cost of living question A committee was set up to go fully into the details of the matter. Resolutions were adopted expressing the opinion that the trend of legislation (hiring tho war period had been in the direction of releasing tho employer of liability towards the workman, while repressive measures had been framed to curb the growing- discontent among the workers. The conference declared that tho Arbitration Court was a complete failure, its judgments being without weight or value. The employers, when refusing to meet their workpeople to adjust wages, to meet the greatly increased cost of living, were followincr a policy which must certainly lead lo all industrial upheaval.
