SIR PHILIP S. JONES. DR ALEXANDER HAY. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. SYDNEY, September 19. The deaths are announced of Sir Philip Sydney Jones, and Dr Alexander Hay, formerly Moderator of the Presbyterian General Assembly, of Australia.

Philip Sydney Jones was born at Sydney in April, 1836, and was thus 82 years of age. Educated at the University College, London, he took his M.D. degree at th;:t university. He returned to Sydney in 1861, gavo up general practice in 1876. He visited Europe on several occasions, and paid special attention to the most modern methods of dealing with consumption He rendered valuable services to medical science, education, and philanthropy, in consequence of which he was knighted in 1905.

The Rev. Dr Hay was born at Perth, Scotland, in 1830; educated at St. Andrew's University and the U.P. Church Divinity Hall, Edinburgh. He.went to Queensland for health reasons in 1870. For many years he was the most prominent personality in the Queensland Presbyterian Church. *
