On May 22 the annual meeting of the subscribers to the Kurow-Hakataramea Library was Held in the library, Kurow, when there was a fair atendantce, Mr 11. Barclay (president) in the chair. The annual report and balance sheet showed that in spite of the inovitable distraction causcd by the war the library had had a good year; during the year close on 160 volumes hud been added. The election of office-bearers for the ensuing year resulted President, Mr H. Barclay ; vice-presidents—Mrs James Barclay Mr N. Hayes; treasurer, Mrs PI. M'Gregor; secretary and librarian Miss c! Sinclair; committee—Mrs Collins, Miss Downey, Rev. John Craig, Messrs D. Hartstonge, and C. Lindsay. Soino little time ago a .bazaar, under the ausp ccs of the Kurow branch of the Victoria Rrd Cross League, whs held in Munro'g Hall. Kurow. Burin? the three days it i was open the buzaar was well patronised, I and the financial esult. was something over | £100. Tliis handsome result was largely ] owing to the exertions of the local treasurer ' and secretary, Mrs H. Black, and Mr C. | Lindsay. ' j Last Sunday a special parents' service was held in Kurow Presbyterian Church. There was a large attendance of parents and children. The Rev. John Craig dwelt on the great problem the Clnrrch had to faoe in reaching the masses; one main solution of the problem was to train and hold tho children. After the war the average man would t-akc a greater part in the government of the country', anil if thai power wero not used in the spirit of Christ then there micrht take place m our own nation a revolution somewhat similar to what has place in Russia. If we trained the rising generation to obey God, as the Germans trained thier present eenera-tion to obey the milnrv power, we should become indeed a great nation, and would be a • blessing to the world. i
