The monthly meeting of the Western Taieri Drainage Board was presided over by Mr Kernpsheil, in the absence oi the chairman (Mr James Miller). Mr Doull, Henley, applied to. have the pumping level lowered by 6in.—To be reduced in winter months. Accounts amounting to £319 3s 3d were passed for pa,yment. The following wo-r-ks recommended wore agreed to:—Cleaning of Wylie'e Creek diversion; drain from i\lr J. Sutherland's to (jrrajitpn farm; river bank, Momona to Allanton. It was decided to purchase a fumigator for the purpose of exterminating tho rabbits on banks. Tho Cleck reported that all rates for last year had been paid. So far as he knew, this was the first year in the history of the board, and perhaps in the history of Taieri 'drainage that all had been paid. The rates for 1918-19 were levied. An increase in tho amount was necessary. The total amount of acreage rates proposed above is equal to an increase of 2d per acre on A" class land, with the proportionate increase on the remaining classes. In the several old board districts the rates are the same as la?t year, except the Henlev river district This rate was reduced two years ago owing to an error by the Treasury? Department. It is now adjusted.
