PUBLICANS' LICENSES
AN IMPORTANT DECISION. (PIB Ukttid PBRSS Absoctcatiok.) AUCKLAND, May 27. An important dqpision was given by Mr Justice Cooper in a case in which the licenso of Edward Swann, of the Hikurangi Hotel, and tho license of William Edwin M'Cutcheon, of the Poroti Hotel, quashed, mainly on the ground that the licenses were removed outside the limits provided by the Act. The question was whether the respective committees had jurisdiction to grant publicans' licenses to Swann and M'Cutcheon. His Honor ruled that they had not, and ordered the issue . of a writ to quash both licenses.
