OTAGO HUNT
OPENIN-G- OF THE SEASON. The Otago Hunt opened its season <:11 Saturday afternoon at Vauxhall, in ideal hunting weather, and like previous functions held by the Hunt, it was a greit success. The attendance of ihe public wulS good, and there was a larse number of horsemen in the field, including some 30 followeis. The Vauxhall field W. 13 riot the happiest selection for the first meet of the season, owing to the limited country available for hunting. Of course, the natural iuuips were supplemented by the ercction of a number of bruah jumps, aud this being the initial run the obstacles proved sufficient for the horses limited. As thu season advances more suitable country will be hunttxl over, -when there will be frmcos enough to satisfy the most enthusiastic), huntsman. Another drawback in connection with Vauxhall is that only a limited view is obtained of the rim by spectators. It augars well for the future of the Hunt that tho opening meet was audi a success, particularly at a time when so many of tho nctivo mioniibera are away "hunting the Huns." The Ofcaso Hunt has now appointed a pnid !«ccrctary, Mr H. Divers occupying tile position
