"POLLY OF THE CIRCUS."

This remarkable Goldwyn production will oamm«flce at tne Octagon and K.ng Edward lheatres to-day at tlie matinee. Adapted from the story by Maxgaret Mayo, the picturo is claimed to be a wondertul production photographically and from a drarivv tical and artistio point of view. The picture tells the story of Polly, who is raised by an old clown, Toby. Polly becomcs a bare bMk rjoer, and, injured by a fall, is left behind m tho little town. She was taken to the nearest house, which happened to be that of a young minister, Jonn Douglas. Here Polly stays during the long months of convalescence. She is 16, and beautiful. Ihe mnuster is 25, and a bachelor. So the gossips are soon busy. Polly is particularly disquieting to Julia Strong, the pretty daughter of the town's big man, Deacon Strong. Polly is transformed under the j minister s guidance from an ignorant circus waif to a tender and adorable young woman. The thought of separation terrifies the girl Word comes to Polly of the serious illness of her old friend Tobv. Polly, riding her crrcua horse, sweeps into the race at the fair at tho last moment, and wins the purse, with which to buy comforts for her old friend. This increases tho enmity of Deacon Strong, whose horse she has defeated. She believes that the m'nister will be taken away from his church if she stays. Polly leaves without a 'word of explanation to Douglas, who bel : eves that she ha? chosen to return to her old life.
